So, you’ve decided you to allow kids at your wedding (talking under 10 years old) but not too keen on the idea. Maybe you have children in your wedding party and feel you should invite other kids in your family to keep everyone happy. (note: ALWAYS remember it’s your wedding and you’re not here to make others happy but I know there has be some balance in the end.) Whatever the case may be it’s an excellent idea to put someone in charge of the kids during the reception. A “Kid Activities Coordinator” — this could be a friend of a friend or a professional. Regardless, it’s a very smart decision. You will also need to designate a spot for all the kids — kids table + play area. If you already have a rustic look going cover their table with craft paper and let them go to town coloring. Provide fun games, dinosaurs for the boys, tiaras for the girls, books, anything to keep them occupied. This will hopefully keep them from running around everywhere but still letting them have fun in their own area. Face it kids will be kids no matter where they are. So make it fun for them too! This will allow their parents to have a little more freedom as well. It’s a win, win if you ask me! In the end they might even make the night more fun.

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” —Dr. Seuss
Wendy and Lucas said “I Do” in Wendy’s Aunt and Uncles backyard in Savannah, GA. It over looked the Thunderbolt River that gave the most wonderful breeze. They longed for a simple, laid back, fun wedding they could enjoy and not stress over. They did just that. This charming backyard wedding was one for the books – for sure one of my favorites. It was a true pleasure getting to know Wendy and Lucas, along with their wonderful family and friends. So glad I was lucky enough to help their dream become a reality.

I had so much fun working with Mallory + Justin who photographed this shoot! They were so. much. fun. Mallory and Justin are from Ohio (burr) and were planning a trip to HHI. They contacted me wanting to collaborate on a shoot while they would be in town shooting a friends wedding at the beautiful Sonesta Resort. Mallory also grew up vacationing to HHI and knew she wanted to take full advantage of the beautiful southern charm. Being from Ohio they do not get to photograph spanish moss covered tress and the ocean too often. So, we had everything in order: flowers, dress, model, location. Then our model fell through due to flight cancelations, boo, the day before we had the shoot scheduled. Since Mallory and Justin were only going to be in town for a short time we couldn’t reschedule. Mallory called and said “Well, what do we do?” I (not so confident) said “Ill do it.” We had worked so hard getting the details together; I wasn’t going to cancel that whole darn thing. I am not a fan of being in photos but they truly made it all okay, as I am sure they do with all their bride and grooms. So, if you are looking for some very cool people to work with and aren’t so comfortable in front of the camera these are your folks. And have I mentioned how awesome their photos are?
